Message from the Organizer
The High-flux Advanced Neutron Application Reactor, HANARO, reached the first criticality in February and started the normal operation in April, 1995. With the 30 MW thermal power and the peak neutron flux of 5ⅹ1014nv enable HANARO to be one of the most powerful research reactors in the world.
The year 2010 marks the reactor's 15th anniversary of operation.
And Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) would like to host an international symposium to celebrate the successful launching of the Cold Neutron Research Facility.
The symposium will be held at Daejeon Convention Center on November 1 and 2, 2010. In the spirit of celebrating the occasion, the following meetings are embedded in the symposium: International Advisory Committee Meeting and IAEA Research Reactor Networking in the field of Neutron Scattering within the Pacific-Asian region. The symposium covers a board range of subjects from research reactors in general to spin dynamics utilizing inelastic neutron scattering techniques. There will be invited speakers along with the local scientists and engineers to exchange information on research reactor and neutron science.
This symposium will provide an opportunity to look back the past 15 years and
to plan the future of the research reactor utilization in Korea. The organizer would like to welcome everyone, who is interested in the research reactor and its applications for the peaceful use of nuclear technology.
Every attendant will make a valuable contribution to the success of the symposium and the future of HANARO.
