International Symposium on Ionic Polymerization,　IP2013　Awaji

The International Symposium on Ionic Polymerization has roots from the series of international symposia on Cationic Polymerization, Anionic Polymerization, and Ring-Opening Polymerization, which were merged as International Symposium on Ionic Polymerization in 1995, held in Istanbul, Turkey. Decision of the merger was made in 11th International Symposium on Cationic Polymerization and Related Processes, held in Borovetz, Bulgaria, in 1993, with the recognition of closer relationship and interplay among these polymerization processes in view of precise control of polymer structures and macromolecular architectures. Thus this Symposium on Ionic Polymerization, IP 2013, will be 21st symposium as the Cationic series as well as 10th one named “Ionic Polymerization” after the merger.


IP addresses contemporary research, both fundamental and applied, in the areas of anionic, cationic, and ring-opening polymerizations. Papers related to other techniques of living/controlled polymerization are welcome in so far as they broaden the scope of ionic polymerizations. Industrial applications and practices of these well-controlled polymerizations are welcome. The symposium will also incorporate a limited number of contributions on the properties and analysis of polymeric materials prepared by techniques of controlled polymerization.


The symposium venue is Awaji Yumebutai* International Conference Center in Awaji Island, located in the Seto Inland See, facing Osaka Bay area, which was designed by a famous architect Tadao Ando, established after the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake in 1995. The venue is conveniently connected with The Westin Awaji Island. (* literally means “Dream Stage”)
