A postdoctoral position is available in the area of functional polymer
surfaces for one year. This project involves the synthesis of functional
macromonomers, their characterization (NMR, MW, etc.), and incorporation
of functional macromonomers in polymers such as polyurethanes. Surface
characterization will be carried out by ESCA, Wilhelmy plate wetting
analysis, tapping mode atomic force microscopy, and ESCA. Functional
activity will be assessed, including activity in blends. In a
collaborative effort with the VCU School of Medicine, action against
pathogenic bacteria will be evaluated.
The position is available immediately. For foreign nationals, strong
preference will be given to those who have received their Ph. D.s and
are already in the U.S.
Applicants should provide a resume in PDF or Word format and the e-mail
addresses of two references.
