Post-Doctoral Research Associate
In Multiscale Modeling and Computation
Scientific Computation Research Center
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Rensselaer's Scientific Computation Research has positions for a qualified
individual in the development of advanced computational technologies. The
position is associated with a long-term project on the development of
multiscale modeling and computational technologies for polymeric based
nanocomposites. The individual taking this position will be responsible
for research and development on:
* Models that account for interactions at the scale of polymeric chains.
* Methods that couple information from the finest scale models to the scale of the polymeric chains.
* Methods that couple the polymeric chain models to continuum models.
Areas of expertise of importance to this position include:
* Models and methods for bridging scales appropriate for polymeric nanocomposites.
* Numerical methods associated with solving the models at the various scales involved.
* Working knowledge and experience in appropriate numerical analysis
software development with a preference for knowledge of software developed
in C and C++.
The individual accepting this position will be part of a team of faculty,
research staff and students addressing the complete problems from the
execution of validation experiments, to the definition of new physical
models, to mathematical formalizations of the models, to the development
of advance simulation software.
Interested individuals should send a resume to either Professor Mark
Shephard ([email protected]) or
Professor Sanat Kumar ([email protected]).
