Two postdoctoral positions are available in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Both projects are at the interface of polymer chemistry, materials science, and catalysis. The first project is centered around a multi-disciplinary team of researchers in the area of supported catalysis. In particular, the use of well-defined polymers and nanoparticles as catalyst supports will be investigated. The ideal candidate will be an expert in either homogeneous transition metal-based catalysis, the synthesis and characterization of inorganic and organometallic compounds, or polymer synthesis and should have some experience in synthesis and with kinetics experiments. The second project will be in the area of self-assembled polymers and their use in materials science. In particular, the use of supramolecular random- and block-copolymers as electronic and/or optical materials will be a focus of this research. The ideal candidate will be an expert in polymer synthesis and characterization and should have some experience materials science. The positions are for one year and carry a starting salary of $29,000/year. Both positions are renewable upon mutual consent. The starting dates for both positions are flexible, but a start date within the next four months is preferred.
Interested candidates should send a complete CV and have at least two confidential letters of recommendation sent to: Prof. Marcus Weck, School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA 30332-0400 USA.
